New Reality Show Pitch: Church Rescue
I cannot stand reality television. Well, I take that back. There are a few shows I like. I can handle Storage Wars, Pawn Stars and Auction Hunters (before they added the pawn shop.) But my favorite show is Bar Rescue. On Spike Network’s Bar Rescue, Jon Taffer, nationally known bar expert, scouts out failing bars for weeks in advance, then goes in and tries to save them. Typically, an episode has him doing a lot of yelling at the management, questioning their motives, not allowing them to make excuses, and bringing in experts to show the kitchen and bartenders how...
The Mad Men are returning
Mad Men, a term which is referred to the advertising executives of the Madison Avenue in New York City in the 1960′s, which is also a popular and one of the greatest American period dramas ever. Mad men premiered on 19th July, 2007 and since then it has won many awards including Emmys and Golden Globes. Centerpiece of the drama is Donald Draper (played by Jon Hamm) who is a creative director at one of the prestigious advertising firms of New York City. The screenplay revolves around his life and the people in his life which, in fact, is an...

Charlie Brown vs. Everything Else
Once again, Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving special outdrew other major programs including the X-Factor and Survivor. Why is that? The X-Factor is a great show. I’ve actually watched it. It’s a reality show where people compete with great talent to get to get noticed. Survivor? A long running show where people survive on an island. Both are great programming with good networking people behind them. How can a show that has been airing since the year I was born (1973) beat both of them out in the ratings? And most likely, A Charlie Brown Christmas will probably beat out most programs...

Reality Television: What Is Wrong With Us?
I’ve never liked reality television. I remember watching the movie, “The Truman Show.” I got a kick out of it. But I remember thinking, “What if someone did that?” Well, someone did. I’m too lazy to look back and see where reality television started, but I remember when Survivor came on. I watched a little of the first season. People jockeying for position to get the grand prize. Lying to each other. Being jerks on national television. Hey, it made for great ratings, who am I to judge? Let’s skip to today. We have all kinds of reality shows. Jersey...

Hey Butthead! It’s about Personal Responsibility!
Heh. Heh heh heh. Heh heh. The smartest show about the dumbest people is back. Last Thursday night I cozied up with a wine cooler, some nachos and turned on MTV for the first time in years to watch the return of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-head. The episode was funny and my husband and I spent those 30 minutes texting our favorite lines back and forth. From the insightful social commentary to the just plain absurd, we laughed our way through the full half-hour. After a fourteen year hiatus, it was good to have these snickering, smart-mouthed idiots back....

Kim Kardashian Shocker
File this under, “Shocker!” And I promise not to do this very often, but I’m covering this news for a reason. ——————————————————— TMZ, the famous celebrity stalker site is reporting that reality star Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from husband Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage.  “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” executive producer Ryan Seacrest broke the news on Twitter. “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins.” TMZ is suggesting the reason for divorce is because, “the couple were at odds over where to...
