The Author

I am a doctoral student at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. I am currently studying Christian spirituality and, within that context, the spiritual words of abused children--namely, that is, how abused children experience the healing touch of God. In my free time, I enjoy writing poetry and children's stories, being in nature, and watching The Wonder Years. Over and over again. And then over and over again. I was born and raised in San Diego, California, and feel madly in love with God on those shores. http://asocialspirituality.wordpress.com

whispering kisses

when the pain is

deep

and the intimacy

cheap

when the fear is

real

and is your only

meal

She is there,

Her motherly care,

whispering Her kisses into your

ear

though you can’t

hear, feel Her

breathing Her love into your

fear, She

is moving in the deep

pain:

the blood red dripping from the cross, a love

stain

in your heart is

His heart

so take heart, dear heart

and bring that smile you danced with in your

soul last night, dig that dance into that

hole:

a seedling will come

Her winds will cause it to grow

Her rain will bring it to a felt

know

ing, you’ll be singing that He is here

whispering kisses in your

ear

breathing love into your

fear:

that, indeed, nothing is more

near, that, indeed, there is nothing to

fear
